Kathy McAbee Bio

Growing up in Brooklyn New York, Kathy developed her skills at an early age performing in various school plays, dance ensembles and talent shows. Currently residing in the Tampa Bay Area, Kathy has developed a strong local following and continues to captivate audiences with her strong vocal ability, enriched with soulful excitment that lends itself to all styles of music.

Kathy won a Patsy Cline contest that was sponsored by radio station WQYK. She was flown to Nashville and performed on the Grande Ole Opry stage. At the Nashville Palace with Randy Travis, she received accolades and was signed to a record label/Baytowne Records where she recorded original music that made rotations on many local and national radio stations. Her music climbed the charts here, but even more so out of the country. Kathy was asked to start a tour in Ireland where her song really started taking off. She made the decision not to go based on political implications as well as the welfare of her young daughter.

Kathy came back to the Tampa Bay Area and continued to do shows and nightspots as well as various high society venues and private functions. Best Events Entertainment agency was looking for a vocalist to star in a show production they had developed, “There will never be another Patsy Cline” When they heard, and saw Kathy perform they knew she was what they were looking for. With the help of her music director Paul Buzine, they put together one of the most dynamic shows to hit the bay area. It was asix piece live ensemble inclusive of steel guitar, fiddle and lots of energy. They performed to packed houses and theaters such as the Royalty in Clearwater and the Largo Culture Center, as well as many others receiving great revues.

Bertie Higgins of Key Largo fame has given Kathy accolades and respect as one of the best female vocalists he’s ever heard. He hired her in his touring group along with Paul Buzine as his guitarist who he respects greatly. They performed venues all over the county including Billoxi, Kansas City, San Diego CA and Las Vegas.

When not touring or doing the show, Kathy loves to perform live engagements as well as working and creating in a studio environment. She and has worked at various studios e.g. Morris Sound, Phat Planet and Divi Productions. Kathy is currently working with a well known engineer from Los Angeles, Allon Sams at Studio A. The rest of this story is yet to come, stay tuned!
